Aku just nak cerita apa yang terjadi dengan aku lately ni. Baru-baru ni aku ada join 2 battle rap and I did both in Bahasa Melayu. Feeling pretty good about it. First battle aku adalah pada 10 Oktober haritu, aku pergi Showdown Streetfest 2010, Aku ada join satu rap battle kat sana. Terus-terang aku cakap, aku tak prepare langsung. Aku bukan freestyle rapper ke ape, but boleh laa sikit-sikit. Cerita dia, aku mula-mula nak balik kolej, tapi Edry ada tanya aku nak ikut dia tak pergi Sunway, ade Showdown Streetfest, aku pun macam okay laa..why not kan? Asalnya nak pergi MC Workshop yang dianjurkan Vandal. So kitorang pergilah sana.

The event was quite a big event. Macam Jom Heboh pun ade. Ramai gila orang. They were focusing more on street-dance lah. So boleh nampak orang menari sana sini. Banyak b-boys, and aku terkejut gila tengok yang Hip-Hop still hidup. Memang seronok aku tengok. So kitorang pun tunggu Vandal sampai, then Vandal pun cerita laa benda-benda basic. Not bad gak. Props to Vandal sebab banyak membantu. Then Vandal cakap ada rap battle, so aku dengan Edry macam, "eh bro, jom ah join". Mula-mula Edry taknak join, so aku pun join. Mula-mula ada 2 orang je yang berani. Pastu tambah punya tambah, paksa punya paksa, sampai 7 orang yang masuk battle tu.

Vandal cakap boleh spit apape je. Written ke freestyle ke, semua boleh. Just bagi and buat yang terbaik. So semua spit memang best. Then aku spit laa verse aku yang aku guna untuk lagu LuBeLi (5forty2). Memandangkan verse aku tu ala-ala battle rhymes, so I got props for that. Then Edry spit verse yang dia guna untuk Amarah. Not bad at all. Semua orang brought their best games. But bilA Vandal suruh crowd yang pilih pemenang, they cheered for me and Aron (some random kid). So I had to battle Aron, we both freestyled. Me in BM, him in English. Long story short, I won. But the kid had some great lines. I won lots of goodies. Can't tell lah... Seronok tak terhingga..Syukur(Lagu Altimet)

Next up, 13 Oktober 2010. Aku pergi event yang dianjurkan oleh Evil Poets Society and The Movemint. I was arranged to battle Raja Nas on that night. It was the first official Bahasa Melayu Rap Battle in Malaysia. So it was quite a big deal jugak lah kan??

So I went there and did my thing. I won. :D

But ramai tak faham battle tu macam mana. Battle tu bukan 100% freestyle battle. But all participants are encouraged to use pre-writtens. Maksudnya, rapper yang join, bukan kena freestyle 100%. Boleh je prepare point or the whole verse untuk battle ni.

But aku, ada guna point yang aku dah ready dalam pala otak and ada yang aku freestyle. Tapi aku banyak freestyle sebab points semua berterabur and preparation aku tak cukup..huhu..but it was fun..Aku nampak banyak benda lagi aku boleh improve...Aku mesti improve lagi..

My Thoughts On : Yin Yang - The First Verse

Yin Yang Twins? Hell no, this is Yin Yang from JBC, Malaysian of course. Our Yin Yang. What, you haven't heard of JBC? Well, JBC simply means Johor Baru Clan and they possess the southside of Malaysia. Believe that! Some say this dude is like the pioneer of 'home recording' in Malaysia. So I gotta give props to him coz I used to record my own stuff at my place as well. Haha.

Back to the review, this EP is quite old though, but I'm feeling like writing something about it. Why? Coz I support local Hip-Hop, so this is like my responsibility man. I have to drop my thoughts on it. So, my man Yin Yang dropped this EP long time ago, somewhere around 2006 I guess. I PM'ed him at MySpace long time ago and long story short, I bought the EP straight from the man himself. It came with his signature too, man that's dope!

The album cover is fucking simple. No fancy designs, no production credits or whatsoever. Just the tracklist and the tracklist itself is the album cover. Haha. So I'm not sure who produced all the tracks in this EP. I guess you have to contact the dude himself for more info. So his EP is called The First Verse. It contains 5tracks + 1 outro = 6tracks. So let's break it down one by one shall we?

01. Southside ft. Big Ben
This track got that crunk feel into it, it's a club-ish beat yet raw and dirty. Catchy chorus and it's like you can sing along to it, which is good in my opinion. Yin killed this track with his flows. Seriously, it's off the hook. I don't dig clubtrack that much but this one is an exception. Big Ben, yeah. I don't know what to say bout his part. It's all good I guess. But the "JBC till I DIE" part didn't work for me though. Overall this track is quite dope, lovin the beat and the vibe.

02. Rain ft. Schizzow
If you wanna do a love track, do it with Schizzow. He's the perfect guy when it comes to love tracks. I just love the beat, seriously. Kinda sounds like Kanye's but I believe Kugan was behind the beat, but I'm not sure about this. The beat sets up that love vibe all around you and that's why it is lovely. The chorus is catchy, but I would prefer the chorus without Yin's rapping along to the chorus. Yin came out pretty good on this. Next!

03. Say Goodbye ft. Jay' & Vixxstarr
Another love track. Don't really like the chorus plus the beat is just plain mediocre. But Yin spits some emo shit throughout his verse. Haha. But I have to admit that sometimes he does sound annoying. Vixxstarr's lyrical content is better than Yin's though but I don't know, Vixx's audio quality sucks.

04. Move It
Another club track and I guess this is what he's really good at. Rockin a crowd. The beat is banging and the verse is energetic plus the chorus is catchy. This track rocks. My 2nd favourite track off the EP just because it's bumpy. Hahaha. Next!

05. Asian Beauty
A song bout them Asian girls, finally! It's about tellin you people why Asian got the finest chicks in the world, especially Malaysia. Malaysian chicks are hot and you just have to admit that! This is simply the best track on this EP. Haha. The beat is so oriental and it makes you wanna cuddle around your chick more than ever. *Fantasizing*

6. Outro
Shout outs. Unnecessary.

So the conclusion is, this EP didn't work good enough for me. I was expecting more from Yin Yang. Full of catchy choruses and bumpy tracks. There is no heavy thinking required for this EP. The quality is a so-so but overall it was a good attempt by Yin Yang. Listen to this shit and judge it yourself. I'm not sure whether he's still selling it or not. DMent ft. Saphuan, Exothermic & Shazet - Coming Through

What's good people? I told you I got something coming. I told you I ain't messing around anymore. Well here it is. Coming Through. My first official track. It features Saphuan of The Watchers, Exothermic of bboy.org & Shazet of Rogue Squadron. Mixed by Dafrosty of The Watchers and the beat is produced by DMent (Me).

First and foremost, this is not a diss track, it's a battle track. Some people might confuse this as a diss track. But if you don't know what is a diss track and what is a battle track, you better go and Google that shit somewhere or ask around. Haha. Pardon my attitude. Now, let me tell you how I was inspired to do this track. It all started with me messing around with Acid Pro and I stumbled upon this one classic track. Then I said to myself, why not sample this one? After messing with the samples and shit, I came up with a raw loop. From there, I decided to spit on it. But I got lazy and the project was put on hold for awhile.

But not until I met Exothermic/Albert (thanks to my roomate, Jie for introducing this fucker to me). He is a dope motherfucker I tell you. Dude can freestyle and shit. I was impressed then I asked him, "hey let's make a track together, you me and Saphuan". So he was like "Aite, let's do this" and I just gave him the loop I came up with earlier. He wrote his verse, I wrote mine and I forced Saphuan to write his. Haha. Saphuan is a dope emcee I tell you. His flows will literally give you eargasms.

Back to the topic, we didn't take too much time on the writing process. Everybody was very comitted. So we decided to hit the studio and we fuckin raped the mic. Hahaha. Eventually, Shazet was there and he offered to do justice to the track and that was why I got him on this track as well. So I gave Dafrosty/Aiman the track and asked him to mix this. He agreed and he did a fuckin good job on this track. Props to him!

Now, it's out. It's done. Thank you for keeping up with my bullshit, especially to Eryna Siti Farah yang sangat3 penyabar. Hahaha. But thanks to everybody for helping me with this track. I appreciate you alot.
